Ryerson Camp is a summer camp property with cabins, and each cabin has bunkies with bunk beds. The cabins are very basic, each bunkie has multiple bunk beds, they do have electricity, and lights but that is pretty much it. Washrooms are in a separate building just behind the cabins.
Many of the bunkies have room for an air mattress to be put on the floor if you want.
We want to ensure everyone's expectations are realistic. This isn't the Ritz Carleton...it is a rustic summer camp property with basic cabins.
The cabins are basic wooden structures. Within each cabin are 2-3 bunkies. Each bunkie is one big room with multiple bunk beds in them. The walls are wooden, and do not reach the roof so while each bunkie is private you will be able to hear your neighbours talking. Think of it like camping but instead of a tent you are in wooden cabins. If you are travelling alone and book a private bunkie you will be in a cabin with others with your own bunkie. If you are travelling with friends or family members, you will be in a group bunkie.
Dogs will be required to be on leash for the entire event. Due to the fact that we do not have a fence, there will be 40+ people and their dogs, and some dogs are not good with other dogs, there will be no exceptions to the leash rule. Unless given the go ahead to switch to a long line, dogs must stay on a leash no longer than 6ft (No retractable leashes allowed unless hiking or at the beach).
This is a kid friendly event! However, due to the nature of the event, only children over the age of 6 years old who are able to safely be around dogs and follow instructions will be able to attend. We will have kids activities the whole weekend!
If your dog can handle being around other people and dogs without interacting with them, then they can absolutely attend. Your dog will not be required to socialize with other dogs or people and they will absolutely be welcome to join us! However, if your dog is aggressive or reactive enough that they cannot be managed or settle down relatively quickly then unfortunately they won't be suitable for the event.
Think of this like camping but in a cabin instead of a tent!
All food and (non-alcoholic) drinks will be included.
Due to the nature of the event we have a one dog per person limit. You will need additional handlers if you plan to bring more than one dog.
Yes! The cost is $175 plus HST per day for a day only pass for one person and one dog. This will include all activities, lunch, dinner and refreshments. Additional people without a dog are $50 plus HST.
We are still working out the details but at this time we plan to have a pizza party on Friday night, continental breakfast both days, sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads for lunch and a BBQ on Saturday night!
We will also have plenty of snacks and refreshments for everyone all weekend!
We will aim to accommodate GF, dairy free and meat free options. If there is a severe allergy or intolerance we recommend bringing your own food. If you choose to bring your own food we will deduct the cost of meals from your total.
You can come and participate in no activities if you don't want to! We have plenty of activities and adventures planned but only participate in whatever you are called to do! The most important thing is to have fun!
Absolutely! There will be dogs of all skill levels and there's no better place camp to try something new!
If you'd like to take advantage of everything camp has to offer then you may want to start preparing in advance!
